Since we were going to be in Hawaii for Thanksgiving, Grammy and Papa decided to have an early Thanksgiving feast with all of Grammy's family joining us including cousin Landen for Blair to play with. It was a really nice day seeing everyone and Aunties Nicole and Jen shared their wonderful news that a cousin will join Blair this June! We are so happy for them and look forward to watching Auntie Nicole's belly grow!
This month was a fail for pictures. First I tried to do them alone (I don't know what I was thinking) and then in desperation to get them done before Hawaii I tried to do them when it was too dark. So... they are terrible but they are done, hopefully I can make up for it with her big 1 year pictures!!! She is still cute of course!
Wow! In one more month, I will be writing a post I am not ready for. This has been a big developmental month for Blair. She is becoming her own little person in so many ways. She makes the most adorable, hilarious faces and she is so funny and she knows it!
Some special things this month:
Blair is a talker! She likes to have little conversations to herself while she plays and boy will she tell you off complete with flailing arms if you cross her! She occasionally says words that sound like real words but we are not sure if they are accidents. We are pretty sure she knows mama and dada (although she doesn't use them often to actually call us), and dog
Speaking of telling us off, she has started having little (not that little) tantrums if she doesn't get her way. I have a feeling we have some fun years ahead of us with this little stubborn girl. She knows that she wants and she wants it now!
She is now putting toys "in." She can put balls in the holes of toys or she can put toys in a bin or bag when you ask her too. It is really fun to play with her. I can just sit and stare at her as she figures out how to use toys, it is truly amazing! She also loves to get on her little ride-on horse and sit until someone pushes her!
She walks! She doesn't use it as her primary mode of transportation but she can go from point A to point B if they are not too far, she is so cute with her little straight legs wobbling along!
playing in the covers with dad
what are these things on my feet!
riding in the wagon with her neighbor friend Jack
she REALLY likes to bury her head in pillows (or the dog bed)
We went to the dog park today to let the dogs get some energy out. It is the old park in Lincoln so there is nobody there which is why we can take our jerk dogs there. Blair and I sat on the blanket for a snack and she had fun finding rocks!
It has seemed like Blair has been so close to walking for a while. She has always been so strong standing and has loved to stand and cruise along the couch. She finally progressed a few weeks ago to walking pretty well holding onto just one hand. This was the ticket for her to practice her balance as she didn't just lean forward and expect you to hold her up.
We were at our friend Jay's house with Andy also and Jay had just asked if she was walking and we said, just 2 steps here and there. All of a sudden Blair turns from the table, takes a few steps, stops to look around, and takes a few more to the couch! Jay said, "so is that normal" and Jason and I are just staring at each other in shock when she turns around and WALKS RIGHT BACK. We both stand up screaming and high fiving and I got all teary. I can't believe what a big girl she is!
She did some more that night and each day she walks a little bit. Obviously crawling is more her thing but if she is standing she will walk between furniture or to someone if they call for her. It is so cute, she just waddles back and forth with her legs so straight.
We had lots of Halloween events! Blair had her baby group Halloween party, we had a neighborhood party, and then the trick or treating. Hard working being a 10 month old!
Here we are going to our neighborhood party (which we didn't realize was not a grown-up costume party... just the kids!)
