Bubbles

Don't tell my 20 year old self what I am about to talk about, she would be ashamed of me for writing a blog post (not that she would know what that was) about this but... my baby's spit is so cute!!!

Blair is really into bubble blowing right now.  She has been slobbering up a storm and she loves to make noises and pucker her lips and laugh at herself when she spits them out.  I am sure it might not be so fun one day when she has food and likes to do that but for now it is fun to watch her entertain herself!

Bumbo!

Now that she has such better neck control she can sit in her bumbo seat.  It is nice to have another place to put her to play where her head isn't laying against something... we don't want a flat head after all!  This little toy suctions onto it and she really was  trying to grab the little cow but just couldn't get the coordination right.

I just love the last one.  She looks like she is sitting in her la-z boy recliner with the way her arms are positioned. She's gotta train Winston to bring her slippers, paper, and coffee so she can put her feet up on a Sunday morning.  Growing up too fast!!!

Play time!

Tonight Blair had a great time playing on the floor.  We sang songs and she was kicking up a storm.  We took our first bath together tonight too so that was fun, she likes to float and just loved the water!

This week...

Jason and I both feel like Blair changed so much this week, she is just growing up too fast.  One thing that has changed is her neck control.  She has been holding her head up on her own pretty good for a while now but this week she is actually moving her own neck when sitting to reach towards something or to sit up more.  She can hold onto our hands and we can pull her to a sitting position and her head stays with her.  She is also starting to grab for things.  It is completely uncoordinated as she is looking at the object and grabbing toward the side, not even close but it is so cool to watch because you just know she is learning so much at that very moment!  She had a shot this week so she had some fussy times but when she is happy she really loves to play with toys and even read books a little bit longer now.  Here are some pictures I took today since her outfit was just so cute on her!

She looks so grown up in this one all leaned over and relaxing!

always happy if she gets to stand!  "look at me, I'm a big girl!"

Sophie the Giraffe

Well it's all the rage so of course Blair had to get one.  Grammy couldn't resist her not having the hottest toy on the market these days and so I introduce to you...
Sophie!

What's a Sophie you ask? Why is she all the rage?

Well I can answer the what at least, here is info from the website:

Once Upon a time, a simple story….The Little giraffe was born on the 25th of May in the year 1961…St Sophie’s day! In those days, the only animal toys available were farm animal or pet figures.. That is why one day in France, a certain Monsieur RAMPEAU, who was an expert in transforming sap from the HEVEA tree using the rotational molding of rubber as a toy-making concept, came up with the idea of designing a giraffe.

Such an exotic wildlife figure would be a first on the market, and its size and shape would be ideal for a baby’s small hands to grasp. Sophie the Giraffe, who looked exactly the same then as she does today, went into production on a Thursday, May 25th, whence her name. She was an immediate success.

Young mothers straightaway saw that she was a must for their children when the first signs of teething appear, Sophie the Giraffe helps baby stop crying!By simple word of mouth, the little Giraffe’s fame spread. From then on in Europe, generation upon generation of children were to love hearing Sophie squeak whenever they pressed her tummy and head!Vulli, a company based in Rumilly in the Haute-Savoie Region of France has continued to keep the jealously-guarded secret of how this wonder toy is made.SOPHIE is still “traditionally” produced to this day, a process that involves more than 14 manual operations. She is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea Tree.

Why is Sophie such a huge success? Sophie the Giraffe is BABYS FIRST TOY, stimulating EACH OF HIS SENSES from the age of 3 months:

•Sight:

At the age of 3 months, a baby’s eyesight is still limited and he can only make out high contrasts. The Dark and contrasting attention-catching spots all over Sophie the Giraffe’s body provide visual stimulation and she soon becomes a familiar and reassuring object for baby.
•Hearing:
Sophie’s the Giraffe squeaker keeps baby amused and stimulates his hearing. To begin with, the funny sound Sophie makes when she is squeezed helps to stimulate baby’s hearing, and then later, helps him to understand the link between cause and effect.

•Taste:

A Sophie the Giraffe is made of 100% natural rubber and food paint, and is completely safe to chew, just like a feeding bottle teat. Her soft texture and numerous chewable parts (ears, horns, legs), make her perfect for soothing baby’s sore gums during teething.

•Touch:

Touch is the first means a baby has of communicating with the outside world. Sophie the Giraffe’s soft feel, like baby’s mother’s skin, stimulates physiological and emotional response that soothe baby and promote healthy growth and well-being..

•Smell:

The singular scent of natural rubber from the Hevea tree makes Sophie the Giraffe very special and easy for your child to identify amid all his other toys.

•Easy to grip:

Sophie the Giraffe’s shape and 18 cm (7 inches) size are perfect for baby’s small hands. She is very light, and her long legs and neck are easy for baby to grip, even from his earliest days.

Still the same, even after more than 46 years…

She hasn’t dated in the slightest..
More than 30 million Sophies have been sold…

She is an undisputed star for the very young…The archetypal embodiment of the early learning toy,
Sophie the Giraffe is a must-have who enjoys widespread popularity and is genuinely loved by every parent and child.Sophie the Giraffe has become timeless and cross-generational..YOUR BABY NEEDS HER!

Why is she all the rage? I am guessing because the paps catch a lot of celeb babies with them... Blair is obviously the next Suri Cruise!  She does really like the overpriced dog toy as I like to call it so it was worth it grammy!

St. Patricks Day!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Grammy made Blair this adorable outfit for her St Patty's pictures with green Hydrangeas.  Grammy makes the best photography outfits and props for her adorable photo sessions.  No green beer or cabbage for her today but I might not dress her in green just so I have an excuse to pinch her adorable cheeks or tush a few times.

To answer your next question... yes I like to torture my daughter :)

Yummy feet!

Auntie Nicole can make me smile so much by playing the foot game with me.  She pulls my feet up to my mouth and it makes me smile over and over again.  On March 10th we were at dad's basketball game and she really had me going!  Auntie Nicole is a really good playmate!

3 Months

Well that is it, Blair is no longer a newborn.  She is getting so big and changing so much each day that I can't even believe it!  Here are some things we love and remember about the past month:

  • Blair started staying home with Daddy while mom goes to work.  She is doing great and so is Jason.  When I get home from work she usually wants to nurse and sleep on my for a few hours and then plays later.  I love my weekend time with her.
  • Her sleep is great right now!  I know there will be rocky times so we are thankful right now that she either sleeps 8-9 hours and wakes up when I wake up for work to eat or she only wakes up once in the night to eat which I can totally deal with.  She goes to sleep for both naps and nighttime well (hopefully I didn't jinx us) but she doesn't sleep very long for her naps.  Hopefully she starts taking longer naps so Jason can get more work done.
  • Her strength has changed so much.  She can pretty much hold her head all on her own and can move her body so much more now and more deliberately.  She rolled over this month and she loves to stand all the time, she just thinks she is such a big girl!
  • We had to go buy her some more clothes in 6 and 9 months to get her through the rest of the winter until she can wear her (extremely adorable) spring and summer wardrobe.  She is so tall and she certainly doesn't look like she is missing a meal.
  • Her intelligence is obviously so advanced (hehe).  We are noticing so much more that she is really focusing and understanding what she is looking at.  Whether it be us or a toy, she loves to see faces and her smiles come so easily now as she loves to play!

Without further ado... her 3 month pictures! I realize I MIGHT be biased but I think she has the prettiest eyes in the whole world!
